MAMAGAEA HALLOUMI CHEESE is produced at one of the largest and oldest Halloumi production facilities in Cyprus with exports to more than 30 countries. Our halloumi cheese is made according to international standards of quality & know-how, and is a product of high nutritional value, quality and taste. The special recipe we use is the pride of our family since the mid 1800s, when our great grandmother started making Halloumi cheese, with a taste that became famous in her town and surrounding villages. The methods of production have changed, but our recipe remains the same; true to the original taste created by grandma Eleni. Mamagaea’s philosophy, just as the name implies, (Mama Gaea or Mother Earth), is one of outmost love and respect toward the Earth and all that live upon it, human, plant, or animal!

WHAT IS HALLOUMI CHEESE

Halloumi is a semi-hard cheese typically made from the milk of goats, sheep, or cows.

Although it has been enjoyed for hundreds of years in Cyprus, it has recently surged in popularity and can now be found in grocery stores and restaurants around the world.

Because it has a higher melting point than many other types of cheese, it can be grilled or fried without losing its shape.

For this reason, it’s typically served cooked, which enhances its signature salty taste and makes it slightly crispy on the outside
